HOLIDAY AT HOME - 18
& 19 and 24 & 26 AUGUST 2010 - booking forms now available
This event is specially planned for church members over
50 and outreach among their friends.
Brochures and booking forms will be available in church
and in the Parish Centre from Early June. Please take them for yourself, and for
any relatives, friends and neighbours who might be interested.
If you haven't yet tried it,
do come along and join us this year! Early booking is recommended
as we soon get full.
Please pray for the speakers and all the preparations
and be thinking and praying about inviting friends to this popular
event.
If you lead a church group or belong to other groups in the local
community please take a supply of leaflets to pass on to members
and encourage them to come.
The event takes place in the Parish Centre and Church
during two weeks in August, with an identical two-day programme
each week to cater for the large numbers who wish to attend. Speakers
and demonstrations cover a wide variety of topics, and over the
years have included travel experiences, art, music, gardening, solo
round-the-world flight and yacht-race, deaf awareness and fair-trade.
Each full day includes coffee on arrival, two sessions
in the morning, a hot lunch, one session in the afternoon and tea
before going home. Each morning starts with a Bible-based "Thought
for the Day" and on the second afternoon we hold a celebration
service in church for all our guests. We seek to share the gospel
of Jesus Christ with all who come, by welcoming them, caring for
them, speaking naturally of our own experiences of God' s love and
offering a stimulating and enjoyable time in good company.
All participants are invited to join us on the
following Sunday for the 11am service, and to come along to other
St Peter's groups and activities to explore and develop their own
faith. Two reunions in January and February are the focus of the
11am service, followed by lunch and a presentation, and are well
attended.
